Cape Maclear
Cape Maclear is part of the Lake Malawi National park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Cape Maclear is located at the southern end of the great expanse of Lake Malawi and boasts deep crystal clear waters and mountain back ground. Lake Malawi is home to many hundreds of fish species, nearly all endemic to Lake Malawi.
About the Lodge
Warm Heart Adventure Lodge began as a small, female-owned lodge on the shores of Lake Malawi — a vibrant fishing and tourist village for travelers to rest, reconnect, and experience the warmth of Chembe Village. Over the years, it grew into something more: a space that inspired adventure, connection, and a deep love for exploring Malawi and beyond.
At the end of July 2025, the lodge closed its doors, but the spirit of Warm Heart Adventures continues. Today, Kay carries forward the same ethos of care, authenticity, and adventure through the tour operator side of the business, specializing in tailor-made journeys across Malawi, Zambia, and Mozambique.
From the wildlife-filled plains of South Luangwa National Park and the wonders of Victoria Falls, to the coastal charm and island magic of Ilha de Mozambique, Kay creates personalized itineraries designed around your interests, pace, and budget. Whether you’re looking for a safari, a cultural immersion, or a quiet retreat by the lake, every journey is crafted with heart and local insight.
Kay can also assist with booking accommodation for both short and long stays, whether self-catered or fully catered, helping you find the perfect spot to suit your travel style.
Though the lodge may have closed, the Warm Heart spirit lives on — connecting travelers to meaningful experiences and the beauty of Southern Africa, one adventure at a time.

Meet the Warm Heart Adverntures Team

The Owner
My name is Kay de Silva and I am the founder of Warm Heart Adventures, Ltd. I am Malawian and was born and brought up just outside Blantyre. I have been working in the hospitality industry for over 18 years now and a few years ago I decided it was time to move from working and living in Blantyre to working and living at Lake Malawi. It didn’t all happen as planned or as smoothly as I recount but the journey began with me selling my coffee & wine bar in Blantyre, taking a few months off, spending a lot of the money from the sale and realising I would need to find a way to earn a living again.
Somewhere in this period I met an old school friend that I hadn’t seen in years, she invited me to visit her in Cape Maclear. So I went to visit, a week turned into a month and at the end of that month I was ‘sold’ this was the way to live. Cape Maclear would become my new home. I proceeded to look for a managerial job, I soon found out that they weren’t that easy to get and left with a bit of a heavy heart and a possibility at a position at one of the businesses. As soon as I was back in town, I emailed my CV and application letter to this company, after a few days the notified me that the position had been filled by someone else. Now I was really sad and life seemed bleak! How could I go back to town living and working when I had glimpsed a piece of true paradise on the shores of Lake Malawi?
Not only were my funds quickly dwindling with rent and daily living expenses to pay without a job. However, a few came my way and I did a little consultancy work but nothing filled the gap. Then one day I got invited to a birthday dinner and at that dinner I got offered a job to manage the kitchen/restaurant and shop of a lodge in Cape Maclear. I couldn’t believe my luck...three weeks later I was living and working in Cape Maclear. It’s been about 11/12 years living in Cape Maclear. The last few years I started to feel the need for a more flexible and free lifestyle so again I was on the look out for new opportunities - The Universe delivered as it always does and Malawian Adventures was born. I started a small tour company specialising in tailor-made tours all around Malawi.

My extensive hospitality background combined with my passion for this place enabled me to lead tours all around Malawi. I had some trouble securing the name Malawian Adventures as a registered trading name, so I registered Warm Heart Adventures Ltd, instead. The journey continues and this company has grown into something I am very proud of.
